In and around the town of Mae Sot, this type of structure was one of the most common. “What is it,” you might ask? A home is the correct answer. The houses in Mae Sot are almost all on stilts. The roofs on the houses are usually thatch and tin. When you see these, and the families coming in and out of the houses, it makes you very grateful for your own luxurious dwellings.
